Atlanta Bridge Collapse

Wow!  As a resident of Atlanta for more than two decades, I was shocked to hear that there was a pretty serious accident that actually left someone dead. 

ATLANTA — Investigators are looking for the cause of a deadly bridge collapse at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens that killed one person and injured 18 others, four of them critically.

 

The incident happened around 9 a.m. at the entrance to the gardens on Piedmont Avenue at The Prado. Police said there were at least 30 people on the bridge when it gave way.

What’s up with all of these music stars going the route of Steve Urkel.  The latest victim of this Kanye-inspired trend is none other than Mr Chris Brown.  While Rihanna is looking like she could stop traffic, Chris looks like he’s wondering, “If he really did that”?

Beyonce is trying to step it up in her new movie “Obsessed”.  The movie also is starring Idris Elba who we already know is an excellent actor.  I’ll be honest, the movie looks pretty good, but it also looks like it could be an ABC movie.  Beyonce seems like she would have played the “Obsessed” person much better, and it probably would have been a better role for her.  If you’ve seen her in a commercial, then you’ve pretty much seen her acting range.

I’m pretty sure Mr. Carter wasn’t feeling some of those love scenes.  Anyway, tell us what you think. [More]

While on the set of her latest film, Ms. Halle Berry accidently let the world see one of breast s(again).  I’m sure we all remember the big deal that was made about her baring the twins during the filming of Swordfish, but this was not done intentionally (at least that’s what they’re saying).  On a side note, didn’t this chick just have a baby a few months back?

She must have popped the baby out and immediately jumped on the treadmill.  Guess that’s what you have to do when you’re in the movie industry.  Check out the NSFW pics AFTER the break.

Akon pleads guilty

In what comes as no suprise to those of us that have two eyes, two ears, and a decent internet connection, Akon has plead guilty to a charge of harassment in the second degree, which is considered a “violation” and not a crime.  Akon was sentenced to 65 hours community service and $350 in fines. Outside the courtroom, he apologized to the toss-victim’s family, while the mother jokingly told him, “I could have killed you for throwing my son like that.”

We can only assume that the next time Akon decides to “prove” how gangsta he is to a crowd of concert goers, he’ll let his security handle it instead.

Swissher Sweet

A Georgia rapper who went by the name Mista Swissher Sweet has to drop his name, after the cigar maker Swisher International sued him for trademark infringement.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the rapper (real name: Jontae Green), who hails from Austell, used the brand’s name and logos on his website, and on his album’s coverart for his iTunes single “Jump Around.”

In the lawsuit, which was filed last week in federal court, Swisher International said the filed the court papers to protect their brand.

26-year-old Green said he came up with the name because it was his choice of cigar, and had no intentions of trying to sabotage their brand or name. He did say he will cease the use of their logo, and chance him name.

“It ain’t no big deal,” the rapper told the paper. “The streets already know me as Swissher. I can just put my face on a CD cover and they know who it is.”

The cigar company’s attorney, Lloyd Farr, says they are happy the rapper isn’t being a problem. However, they still have to work out the legal ramifications for use of their trademark though.

“Certainly we’re happy that he’s pulling down the website and changing his name,” Farr told the Journal-Constitution.

Swisher are seeking damages of more than $100,000, and profits Green made by use of their logo.

Despite the suit, Green would like to work with Swisher to help promote their product through a possible endorsement deal. However, he said if they want his domain, swissher.com, they need to cough up $22,000.

As far as the $100,000 Swisher is seeking, Green says he doesn’t have that kind of money.

Who woulda ever thunk it? The most wholesome show ever, The Cosby Show is being turned into a p0rn spoof. “Not the Cosbys XXX” is beginning production, with an actor mimicking Cliff Huxtable character in the midst of a lot of hard-core action, reports avn.com. Some of the hanky-panky will take place on a set resembling Denise Huxtable’s bedroom, producer Jeff Mullen said.
